Volleyball Dominates Albertus Magnus at Cortland Invite

Cortland, N.Y.The Bombers downed Albertus Magnus 3-0 (30-4, 30-10, 30-13), improving to 2-0 at the Cortland Invitational and 19-7 overall. It was Ithaca’s largest single-game (26) and combined (63) margin of victory since volleyball’s scoring system was changed from games to 15 to games to 30 in 2001.
 
Nine Bombers recorded kills in the match, and sophomore Mary Schaefer (Eden/Eden) led with 16 digs. Freshman Jacqueline Deschamps (Cobleskill/Cobleskill-Richmond Center) led the Bombers with a career-high 22 assists, while sophomore Casey Buss (Barnstable/Yarmouthport, Mass.) recorded 10 assists including the 1,700th on her career. She is the sixth Bomber in history to do so.
 
Senior Kaye Haverstock (Huntingdon/Hesston, Pa.) notched seven aces, including her career 200th. She moves into sixth on the Bombers’ all-time list with 205. Sophomore Jessica Woodcome (Pittsford Sutherland/Pittsford) had a career-high five aces.
 
Ithaca faces host Cortland at 2 p.m.
